Linked up with this dude from Cali named Bryce. We drove from El Salvador to Leon, Nicaragua. It’s great making friends and then going on adventures.
We got robbed last night at Playa Las Penitas near Leon.
They took everything including the passport, drivers license, credit cards, hard drives, cell phone, laptop… But they left me the piano. My buddy from California only has his clothes and a surfboard. Not a dollar of cash… I have $100 and at the US embassy getting a new passport. Staying positive. This has certainly been the most challenging trip ever.
Once you´ve exhausted your energy being depressed about your bad luck, the only other thing to do is Laugh.

This is something I´ve been through before in Seattle, WA although the only difference is I´m in a foreign country with different people and currency. I´m going to play piano this weekend and see how much money I can make on the streets of Granada Nicaragua. Its a tourist town that most likely gets a good bit of pedestrian traffic… I need to wait a week or two before all my bank cards come in. What really sucks is they took my drivers license… (Map of Nicaragua) ?
Got myself a $2 haircut and some fruits and veggies at the market. I’m gonna attempt to live for the next 2 weeks with only $100.
Hung out at Apoyo Lagoon with a Brazilian, a Canadian, Californian, and a Dutch… This is why I love living like this.
I've been living fairly cheaply since the big robbery.
I’m doing well and have had some great moments connecting with the other travelers I’ve met from all over the world. I’ve been spending about $12 a day and not driving anywhere. I’m hoping playing piano tomorrow in Granada will bring in some cash.

This week I’m playing piano at a hostel in exchange for food and shower… It great because they have a sweet pool and I’ll take a dip then practice a few tunes. Perfect balance :-)
Woke up at 7 AM and began driving south from San Juan Del Sur to San Jose, Costa Rica.
The border wasnt too bad (even without my real drivers license). Paperwork, Passport, Permit and off I went. I was really tired and kept falling asleep while driving so I stopped along the road and rested underneath a mango tree. Woke up, ate 5 mini mangoes and kept going. It took around 7 hours of driving and stopping to get here. Time to rest… I’m getting a little homesick thinking about the stressfulness of having to drive back North…
Costa Rica is an incredible reminder that we're all taking part in something so rare in the universe called: EARTH.
And every little thing that exists on this planet is even rarer. You, me, those trees, that frog, and that volcano. All incredibly rare things! Dont live tomorrow. Live today!
